# Entrusting your data to an AI assistant without putting yourself at risk

## In brief

Before you upload a document to an assistant, ask three questions: what this file is about, which service it goes to, and who answers if it leaks. A consumer service is set account by account; a business plan rests on a signed contract. Then take out the identities: a name or a file number does nothing for the task requested, and the text you get back is just as usable.

## Programme

- 1. Before you upload anything to an assistant : Place what you already entrust to third parties and what has to stay with you
- 2. Your data, and what leaves your premises : Decide what you entrust to an assistant, to which service and under which contract
- 3. Your action plan : Settle what never leaves and which tool the rest goes through

1 content sections, each with its quiz. Three level quizzes: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.

### 1. Nobody told you where the file went

You paste three lines of a document into an assistant, the answer arrives, the day goes on. The file, meanwhile, has gone to a provider whose name, country and commitments you do not know. It does not matter every time. It matters sometimes, and nothing warns you. Telling the difference, before you paste, changes what you can entrust to an assistant from your structure.

### 2. What you will be able to decide by the end

- Choose the service that suits each type of data
- Prepare a document in three minutes before you upload it
- React when identifying data has already left

### 3. The four questions that come up every time you upload

They come in this order, for a quote as much as for a tracking table.
- What is in this file that I would not write in public
- Which service does it go to, and who authorised it
- Does a written commitment cover this use, or only my habit
- What can I remove without losing anything of the task requested

### 4. Where do you stand?

One question before you read on: it is about what you already do, not about what you ought to do.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I use a consumer AI assistant for my work?

For a text that contains nothing from your work, yes. As soon as a document carries a name, a price or an internal detail, no: a personal account rests on no commitment made to your organisation. Ask in writing which tool is covered, and in the meantime work on content emptied of every identifier.

### Does anonymising a document before uploading it degrade the answer?

No, in almost every case. An assistant works on the structure and the reasoning of the text, not on the identity of the people named in it. Mask the names, remove the annexes containing figures, keep the rest: you get the same analysis. You then put the real details back into your own version, which only you have in front of you.

### How does this course fit into the artificial intelligence theme?

It deals with one precise question: what you entrust to an assistant. The other courses in the theme explain how a model produces text, how to write a useful prompt, how to check an output and how to fit the use into your week. The theme exam measures your level across all of them and issues a personal certificate.
